I am writing this letter as a formal invitation to request you to become a member of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA). We are pleased to inform you that our Association will be completing 60 years in 2022. The 60th Year Celebrations will be organized on 7th & 8th January 2022 at Hotel Sahara Star, Near Domestic Airport, Santacruz (East), Mumbai.

  • Showcasing Pharmaceutical and Allied Industries across the Globe
  • Disseminating knowledge on various subjects
  • Highlighting the achievements of IDMA

IDMA was established in 1961 and has since grown to become the country’s largest and most widely recognised Pharmaceutical Industry Association with over 1000 plus members manufacturing Formulations, APIs, etc. IDMA has four categories of Membership - Principal Members (having Valid Drug Manufacturing License), Associate Company Members (Allied Manufacturers and providers to the Pharmaceutical Industry), Associate Academic Membership (Institute / College Membership) and Corporate Membership (Large Companies who are interested to actively participate in IDMA Executive Committee wherein a corporate member gets a direct seat in the IDMA Executive Committee.html).

We have eight active State Boards as mentioned below:-

Gujarat Haryana Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand
Karnataka Madhya Pradesh Telangana
Tamil Nadu, Kerala, & Puducherry West Bengal

IDMA Secretariat & its State Boards in these trying times due to COVID 19 Pandemic were providing required support to its Members in regards to the continuation of manufacturing activities and transportation of labour and raw materials, where ever possible. Together we had ensured that the capacity utilization at the manufacturing plants reaches almost 70% to 80%. All the necessary issues of the Industry are being taken up by us with the Government expeditiously.

IDMA has always been in the forefront for taking up issues of the National Pharma Industry; hence we are rightly known as, ‘Voice of the National Sector’, be it at Government levels or with other Trade organizations.

We have presented a White Paper on ‘Journey Towards Pharma Vision 2020 And Beyond’ to the Government of India providing an insight on the future path for the growth of API Industry in July 2014. All the factors concerning the revival of our API & Intermediates Sector have been addressed and also, the suggestions and recommendations to resolve these factors have been duly presented. We strongly believe that this will revive our API & Intermediates sector to former levels of glory and would take the Indian Pharma Industry confidently forward towards meeting all our requirements for providing safe and affordable quality generic drugs for our people and the world.

IDMA continues to host various technical seminars, conferences and training programs by way of Webinars in the current situation. IDMA along with Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Government of India, have been organizing various Seminars / Workshops on GMP, GST, Sugam Portal, etc. across India. IDMA has been working closely with various NGOs and has assisted in ‘Blood Donation Drives’, Medical Check-up Camps and Distribution of free medicines to the poor and needy.

IDMA has also played a stellar role in providing free medicines to the affected citizens during national calamities, whenever called upon.

IDMA is proud to be the only Association in the country with a weekly publication; an industry specific IDMA Bulletin. We also have a monthly publication which is a research based scientific journal, called Indian Drugs. We also publish an Annual Publication which is a compendium of IDMA’s activities for the year, along with data on the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry.

As you are aware, the IDMA National Executive Committee.html functions with the support of 20 Committees headed by various experts, as well as Office-Bearers of the above mentioned 8 State Boards. These State Boards act as a predominant guardian on behalf of the Association for the IDMA Members located in that particular zone.
