  • The Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA), established in 1961, is the industry association of leading pharmaceutical companies based out of India. IDMA works closely with the Government of India on the industry’s development plans, represents the industry on prominent issues such as pricing, regulatory affairs, and other policy matters. It also plays a crucial role in keeping business leaders, media, and the public informed about the industry.
  • IDMA has been the engine leading the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry to greater heights and glory and ensuring near self-sufficiency of affordable quality medicines for our people and also globally. IDMA has a membership of 1000 plus members and 8 State Boards located in Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry, Gujarat, West Bengal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana & Karnataka. IDMA, as the apex national body of Pharmaceutical and API manufacturers in our country, is rightly known as the “Voice of the National Sector”. IDMA is the only Association comprising of small, medium and large scale pharmaceutical manufacturers situated throughout the length and breadth of our country.
  • IDMA regularly organizes seminars, training programs, and workshops for the benefit of members and the industry at large. In collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, IDMA successfully organized a series of workshops titled “GMP Workshop for SMEs - Schedule M and Beyond for Global Quality and Compliance” and a seminar series on “Meeting Quality Challenges and Achieving Global Compliance” all over India. IDMA has successfully organized the second series of an MBA-style international education program - Advanced Program in Pharmaceutical Quality Management (APPQM) in collaboration with NSF Health Sciences, UK for developing change agents for quality excellence. IDMA also works closely with the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, and wholeheartedly supports them in all their activities& initiatives. IDMA has contributed to guiding the industry in constantly improving quality and efficacy through its highly regarded Annual “Pharmaceutical Analyst Conventions” held since 1997. IDMA is an initiative-taking contributor to the nation through CSR activities. For Swachh Bharat Mission, it took active part in the cleanliness drive and was conferred with the “Indian Pharma Swachhta Champion Award” the first recipient of this award.
  • IDMA under the guidance from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, would celebrate the first ever “National Current Good Manufacturing Practices Day” (National cGMP Day) on October 10th, 2023. The “National cGMP Day” idea was conceived at the Centre for cGMP, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal and we sincerely propose to celebrate this day every year as National cGMP Day. The Pharma Professionals & Students have signed / submitted their Pledge on this day. Also, there would be CGMP sessions conducted by the manufacturing units across India. The total impact was 20,018+ Pharma Professionals & Students
  •  The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) in association with IDMA organised workshops on “Revision of Schedule-M”pan India wherein CDSCO Senior Officials addressed the gatherings. The event was a spectacular success with in-person attendance of more than 2000 participants and 20,000+ viewers online. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness amongst drug manufacturers about good manufacturing practices (GMP) requirements to ensure quality of medicines, workshops on Revision of Schedule-M were organised across India in Sep 2023 by CDSCO in partnership with IDMA. The revised GMP guidelines have come at a relevant time when India is reinforcing itself as the global pharmaceutical manufacturing hub
  • IDMA Publishes:

    (A.) "IDMA Bulletin" (weekly) for the past 54 years, offering up-to-date information on activities of the pharmaceutical industry and other relevant issues;
    (B.) "Indian Drugs" (monthly) a science and research periodical covering original papers and review articles of current interests to the pharmaceutical industry, now in its 60th year;
    (C.) "Annual Publication" providing statistical and other relevant data for readers, now in its 61st year.
  • Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) celebrated its 60th Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in April 2022 wherein the Annual Celebrations were graced by Dr. Mansukh L Mandaviya, Honourable Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India and Shri Piyush Goyal, Honourable Minister of Commerce and Industries, Government of India. Their innovative and motivating addresses captivated each and every participant.

  • IDMA is spearheaded by Dr Viranchi Shah, National President (Promoter & Director – Saga Lifesciences Ltd.) and Mr. Daara B Patel, Secretary – General, IDMA.
  • Dr Viranchi Shah, National President in his first address mentioned that the Indian Pharma Industry specially the IDMA Members were proud that they contribute to years of better, longer and healthier life for millions of people worldwide.
  • IDMA always believes that TEAMWORK works and therefore, IDMA has left no stone unturned in supporting its members by making timely Representations and interventions at the Centre as well as at the different State levels
